Mini Review: Breakfast Houst

On the corner of Ashland Ave and Wellington Ave you will find an unassuming café called Breakfast House. I have passed by here many times without eating but decided to stop in on a Saturday and see what their breakfast is like.
Atmosphere
It’s hard to tell what the atmosphere is going to look like before entering, because from the outside you can only see the unassuming black “Breakfast House” sign.
I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and inviting it was inside though, like a modern version of a classic diner.
I started off with a coffee (mocha of course!) and it came in a really nice glass. I forgot to get it iced so it came hot, but that’s fine since it was a cold day outside.
Hash
I ordered the house special - the house hash. It comes with two poaches eggs, two kinds of sausage, potatoes, onions, peppers, and dijon aioli. Yum!
It was very filling, and both sausages had a great flavor. Maybe I just like my food extra seasoned but I always find I need to add salt and pepper to breakfast dishes. I guess restaurants avoid adding too much in case of sensitive palates but eggs and potatoes definitely need to have some pepper on it!
Overall, the coffee and breakfast were very filling for a reasonable price considering the atmosphere. I felt energized for the rest of the day, which is the sign of a great breakfast.marginal effects!

Overall, I would give Breakfast House a 4.1/5.0. I will definitely go back, it’s just that there’s so many great breakfast places around me and the price was a couple dollars higher than some of the other cafés near me, although I believe they made up for it with the service, atmosphere, and delicious food.
